Donald Trump and Climate Change. Why is this orange dude so against sustainable development?

My very first "I react" to post is about Donald Trump.

The dude got the world spiraling with his "covfefe" tweet. So we all know how much impact this guy has. Since he's the president of the USA, the so-called "most powerful country", from having veto rights over at the UN (which they don't give out to any country.. mind you),and from having their governmental policy carefully watched over by countries all over the world since it could impact theirs, because its just THAT influential, and many more..

So, of course, everything this dude does is going to attract attention and reactions, add his controversial remarks and his constant ignorant behavior, he's just simply asking for it.

I heard about Trump's announcement about the USA planning to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement.
And I know, even though Trump is the president of the country, of course he can't single-handedly decided to pull out from such a impactful agreement without at least being faced with the disagreements from tons of people in the White House, like the senates and congress, unless.. maybe, the majority of them also agree to withdraw from the agreement.

But here's the thing, the USA has ratified the agreement by an executive agreement back in September 3rd, 2016, when Obama was still the president of the United States.

So now the question is, can Trump singlehandedly decide to withdraw from The Paris Agreement?

(Joint ratification of the Paris Agreement by USA and China)

On 5 October 2016, the threshold for entry into force of the Paris Agreement was achieved. The Paris Agreement entered into force on 4 November 2016. So the US carries out obligations from this agreement to undertake ambitious efforts to combat climate change ever since.
I've read some of the articles of the agreement, and of course some articles regarding the procedure of withdrawal from the agreement on 1986 Vienna Convention .
Article 54 of 1986 Vienna Convention about Termination of or withdrawal from a treaty under its provisions or by consent of the parties. There's two things the USA have to fulfill in order to withdraw from this agreement, that is:
1. make sure the Paris Agreement have a provision about withdrawal procedure, which they have under Article 28.
or
2.  consent of all the parties after consultation with the contracting States and contracting organizations
now, now. this is where it's going to get tricky.

Basically, the Paris Agreement lets parties to withdraw from the agreement. It is a form of respect towards parties' sovereignty, but only after three years after the treaty has entered into force so basically, the USA can't withdraw from this treaty yet, they have to wait until 2019 to do so.
since Paris Agreement is basically a multilateral agreement formed by countries as the subject of International Law, it must obey the 1986 Vienna Convention as the authoritative guide regarding the formation and effects of treaties. And the USA has ratified both.
That's the good news.
But remember how I said there must be tons of senates who disagrees with Trump's plan to withdraw from the Agreement so it's not going to be that easy for him to just single-handedly decide to bail?
Well apparently, the Obama Administration considered the Paris Agreement to be an executive agreement, not a treaty, so it did not require the Senate’s advice and consent. a future Executive ( in this case, Trump) may unilaterally withdraw from it without seeking approval from the legislative branch.

Which is sad, that the form of ratification Obama did turn out to be a boomerang for all of us. Now that a complete buffoon is in charge of the USA's Executive, he actually can do it. He can unilaterally decide to withdraw from an International Agreement (that's considered as an executive agreement) as important as this.

Now, what made him do it?
Why is this orange dude so against sustainable development?
My opinion is, it all comes down to money.
Why?

So, the Paris Agreement requires the USA, as a developing country, to undertaking economy-wide absolute emission reduction targets. Now, the USA is required to make the transition to a clean energy economy. Guess what, it costs them lots of money.

Let's take a look at his reasoning to why the USA is withdrawing from the Agreement:
1. He said the Agreement will cost them 2.7 million lost jobs by 2025 according to NERA.
Here's the thing, NERA is basically an economic consulting FIRM. so they are not affiliated with the US government whatsoever. I mean, what they have to say does not have the power to directly affect the policy of the US. In conclusion, they're using NERA's statistics simply as a reason to bail from the Agreement because the truth is, green-technology CAN open lots and lots of jobs opportunities.

2. He said this agreement is massive redistribution to the USA's wealth to other countries. At this point, he's just simply being greedy. It's clear that he does not see the purpose of this Agreement at all. It's true that Article 4 states that a developed country like the USA shall assist developing countries to implement the provisions of this Agreement (yes, financially too).

I mean, it's obvious Trump does not see this Article as a way to achieve the goal of this Agreement, let's face it, he'd rather spend the US' money on weapons instead of "redistributing" it to the developing country. Obviously, he doesn't care about sustainable development or the well-being of this planet for the next generations because he'll be dead by the time this planet turns to dust anyways.

And here's another fact, the US is set to spend 3 billion dollars to fund the developing country to address climate change. Seems like a big number, no? Not really, since the US is set to spend 4,7 trillion dollars in 2017. 3 billion is nothing. But they just can't seem to give it up, for the sake of their own planet. That's what I call being greedy.

3. He said China can do whatever they want according to this agreement. Newsflash, you can too, because this is a voluntary agreement and no one forces you to ratify. You too can do whatever you want, as long it doesn't contradict with the provision of this Agreement. Silly.

 4. Lastly, he basically said the Paris Agreement won't do much. It's just going to decrease 1-degree Celcius reduction. AT THIS POINT ITS BETTER THAN NOTHING OH MY GOD AT THIS POINT HE'S JUST THROWING REASONS NOT TO SPEND MONEY FOR CLEAN ENERGY.

I do not know why the American citizens voted for this airhead as their president, but he needs to be stopped because he's truly jeopardizing the future of this planet and I WILL NOT HAVE THAT. I can't let this assface get in the way of my kids' right to enjoy life on this planet.

I hope the countries involved in this Agreement take a more aggressive stance towards the USA. At this point, they're just a nuisance for everyone. Time to show them they're really nothing when they stand alone.

I know this is not a very good conclusion, but it's 1:21AM and I am very sleepy.

So.. Ciao,
Ruth Margaretha.

I hope Donald Trump resign lol.
